Rachel, Rosas, Betty and Mary – 33 viewsIn 2007 we met Betty at Town Break, a local day centre for those with dementia. A few weeks later she mailed to us a knitted Cinderella doll -- which has turned into our favorite part of our props bag! In 2008 we stopped by her home outside of Stirling and realized just how amazing she truly is...the whole house was full of beautifully knitted dolls.

Margaret Kirkwood (left) and Team Member – 35 viewsMargaret is the Deputy Manager at Cumnor Hall in Ayr, Scotland. She and Wilson (Manager) have hearts of gold -- and the staff is incredible, too. During our on-site visit, this wonderful carer on the right (sorry to not know your name!) pulled out her accordion and kick-started the party with classic Scottish tunes. To watch the folks with dementia dance and sing was beautiful!

While we trained throughout the area, Elspeth became our guide and life saver, really. If it weren't for her we could have never navigated from Polmont to Edinburgh. Without even knowing anything about us, she kindly gave us a tour of Stirling, Scotland, and invited us to participate at Town Break, a volunteer based adult day centre for people with dementia. James McKillip closed the conference by discussing the realities of dementia...and the possibilities of living with the condition. He deserved the standing ovation he received!
