BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH - DAN KAHLER  Ed.D

Dan KahlerDan Kahler is a retired educator, a former high school/college English teacher and high school principal of five schools in two states.  He earned his final degree, a doctorate, from Oklahoma State University.

DK, as he is called by students and adults, is in several halls of fame and has many awards. A few are the first "Kindest Kansas Citian," the North Kansas City (MO) Schools first "Staff Development Award," the "Cornerstone Award," and the one that makes him break out in a smile, the N.K.C. Schools "Dan Kahler Teacher Grants," awarded annually from the NKC Schools Education Foundation to ten district teachers with unique ideas to enhance student learning.

However, the accomplishment of which he is most proud in his 80 years is the care of his life partner and best friend.  Violet, DK's wife of fifty-six springs, lived with Alzheimer's for the final nine years of her life and made her transition to Paradise in July 2005. She gave birth to their two children, and they have four grandchildren.  DK once told us, "Caring for my bride was an honor!  She is the nicest, most loving person I have known. I miss her so very much."
