APPLESCRAPS
Amy
Cecil, founder and artisan of AppleScraps jewelry, collaborated with The
Edcon Group to create a limited edition series of necklaces capturing
unique images. In total there were 10 designs, each displaying two
images back-to-back making the pendants reversible and more versatile.
Our hope was that caregivers would strategically use these necklaces to
jump-start conversation and engage elders in meaningful, generational
discussions. A necklace could become a
"prop" for your "props bag" (the collection of random objects used to
trigger a memory flash)! The limited edition is no longer available, but
Amy designs a wide range of incredible pieces worth sharing.

JOHN KILLICK and KATE ALLAN
We
first met John Killick (England) at a 2006 Creativity and Dementia
conference in Vancouver, BC. His passion and understanding of
those who have dementia are undeniable...equally shared by his partner,
Kate Allan (Scotland), whom we met while speaking at The University of Stirling.
On November 2, 2007, we had the honor of
presenting a full day conference with them in Kansas City...one of the most amazing educational experiences. Learn
more about their work and books written at the following site:
